Growing up in Portland Oregon, I always thought there was more to life than this. Now, as an adult I travel the country, I've realized I am very fortunate to call the beautiful Pacific Northwest my home and there is no place like it. This blog will show you the majestic beauty of the Pacific Northwest and I hope you too will visit these places in person.

Latourell Falls
Latourell Falls is a waterfall along the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon, within Guy W. Talbot State Park. It was Guy who donated the land and falls to the Oregon State Parks system in 1929. The falls were named for Joseph Latourell, a well known settler of the area who was named postmaster of the Rooster Rock Post Office in 1887.
Latourell Creek drops unimpeded over 200 feet from columnar basalt cliffs, decorated with bright patches of lichen. From the parking area, you can either walk a short distance up the trail to a viewpoint.
Latourell is unique among the best-known Columbia Gorge waterfalls, in the way that it drops straight down from an overhanging basalt. Almost a hundred years old, you can follow a trail through the superstructure of the impressive arch bridge.
